CSC4K Update

I wanted to post a few pictures from the weekend. We had an awesome time and meeting new scrapbooking friends was definitely a highlight for me.

These two women are amazing, Cari and I had an awesome chat with them on Sunday afternoon.
Josie and Sally are the fabulous designers for Iron Orchid Designs and Prima. They were really down-to-earth beautiful women, inside and out!

I also as able to meet Kelly Goree, who is really one of the top scrapbookers in the industry as far as I am concerned. She was teaching some awesome classes sponsored by Basic Grey. Here is a cute picture of the two of us.

I also got to meet Melissa Inman, Leica Forrest, Michelle Van Etten, Ronnie Parsons and of course other friends from Edmonton and area that took time out to come support this amazing cause.

Cari and I also got to hang out with the fabulous Cheryl Mezzetti on Saturday for an afternoon of cutting kits and a great supper at Earls. She is such a talented artist and we had an awesome time chatting.

I also wanted to say thank you to Sarah for her vision and Trisha for all of the hard work that went into planning and executing this event! Awesome work girls!

I, of course, loved hanging out with Cari! Every time we get together, we just seem to click, with similar views on most everything, she is such beautiful friend and I thank God for her!

Canada's Scrapbooking Crop For Kids

Yes, I am coming out of blog neglect to share a little about this past weekend! It was amazing. Sarah had an amazing vision, and Trisha is the one who pulled it off here in Edmonton.

I am so thrilled that I was able to be a part of such a big event to benefit some of the children's hospitals here in Canada. Scenic Route Paper Co. was my sponsor and I was able to teach 3 classes for them, as well as, help out wherever I was needed.

I met so many cool people and got to know others better. This really is an amazing hobby that really binds us together.

I will be sure to post some pictures in the coming days.

This is one of my handsome boys. This is a DT project for Urban Scrapbook, using the new My Mind's Eye Tres Jolie Bonjour Boy collection. I love this picture, it totally captures his personality!

Stacy Julian ROCKS!

I had an amazing weekend at the Urban Scrapbook convention. I was Stacy's teaching assistant all weekend and was lucky enough to drive Stacy and Kayce to and from the airport as well. Stacy is amazing - she is totally happy and is the kind of person that you want to be around!

I wanted to share a few things that really stuck in my mind from some of Stacy's talks...

- If you have been scrapbooking for more than 5 years, every 5 pages or so needs to have journaling that goes below the surface. I, for one, tend to be a little more private, and I rarely go beyond the surface. This really challenged me!

- I helped in her Finish Line Scrapbooking class all weekend, and I had an epiphany - I scrapbook for me, first and foremost, but I need to complete some little albums for all of my kids, that are for THEM! Ones that they can keep by their beds or take in their backpacks. Ones that I don't spend hours on, so that if they spill juice on them - oh, well! I also want these to be a tangible thing that we will look at and know that they are loved - completely! The finish line scrapbooking philosophy is perfect for this.

I am sure that there is more, and I will share it when it comes to me!

"Professor Pipecleaner"

I love this photo of Joshua! I did this layout for the Scenic Route website with instructions(check out the bar at the left). I don't know when it will be up, but it should be soon.

In other news, we went to the homeschooling conference this past weekend - a little overwhelming! But I think that I have a good handle on the curriculm that I am going to use next year!

We also went to the antique show on Sunday, and I picked up a cool wood printers drawer to alter! I don't think I will be doing it any time soon, but when I do, I will post it.

Sunday was also Justin's 2nd birthday! It is amazing that our baby is two already! And he is definitely in the terrible twos!

Long time...

...since I have posted! Sorry to the few people that actually check out my blog!


Lots has happened over the last little while:


1 - Thank you for your support, but I did not make it any further in Making Memories Idol! The felt wall-hanging did me in! I was disappointed for a second, but it really was a lot of work in addition to everything else I am doing right now. Congrats to all the girls who are still in the running and good luck!


2 - I have joined a new design team! Beth Root at Creating Inspirations asked me to be a part of their amazing team! Beth has amazing kits each month with loads of product! Check out the link on the left! The girls who are there are awesome and I am proud to be working with all of them!


3 - I had a couple of my favorite recent layouts picked up by BHG Scrapbooks Etc. and Simple Scrapbooks. My first one with Simple Scrapbooks - honestly I don't submit to them much, because I haven't really thought I was a simple scrapbooker, especially with the amount of time it takes me to do a layout! Maybe I need to re-evaluate things and come to grips with the fact that my style is 'simple'! Which seems like an oxymoron when I spend so much time actually planning my layouts!


4 - I have also completed a little work on a secret opportunity that I really hope works out! It is something I have never done before, but the people involved are all amazing designers!


5 - We are looking for a new place to buy, so I am frantically sorting and cleaning our house to get it ready to sell. Which isn't easy with 5 little children and no actual room to put anything. I am wondering if we will have to put some things in storage, before we put this place on the market. We need a bigger house and want to be out of the city, on a farm. Our kids are already asking when they will be able to get snowmobiles, quads and animals - Sabrinna wants a horse, but that will be a few years off.


6 - We are also working away at school. I am looking forward to the homeschooling conference coming up next weekend. I have used the same curriculm ever since I started homeschooling, but now I am wondering if I need to make a change. Change is hard, and I am not sure it will happen, but I want to check out the curriculm fair at the conference, to be sure there isn't anything better suited to us out there.


The layout above was done for my Urban Scrapbook design team this month. The paper, chipboard and patterned paper are all Daisy D's - old and new. The chipboard alphabet is American Crafts and the cardstock is Bazzill. It came together fairly quickly, and love this picture of my family!

More Idol

Hi everyone...thank you so much for voting last week! I made it into the Top 30!

This weeks project threw me for a loop! We had to design a project that used scrapbooking materials, that was kid friendly, meaning, you and a child could do it together.

Making Memories Idol

So, you have heard of American Idol and Canadian Idol, where contestants strut their stuff, the public votes and if they get enough votes every week, they make it to the next round, well...

I have made the first cut from thousands of contestants to 50 contestants in what is called Making Memories Idol! It is a fun contest where contestants are asked to complete a scrapbooking project every week, that you the public get to vote on! The first vote was done by Making Memories, but now it is up to you.

Tomorrow morning at 9am, the project that we had to complete this week, will go live and you get to vote on the one that you like best. Of course, I would love for you to vote for me, but more importantly, please just vote!
